Mike Holden, Principal

Mr. Holden has 30 years of experience in the field of education. He earned his Masters of School Administration, Masters in Special Education and a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education all from Appalachian State University.

Mr. Holden has been an administrator with Burke County Public Schools since 2003.  His teaching career includes:  Knoxville City Schools, Appalachian State University, West Henderson High and Burke County Public Schools. He taught at East Burke High School from 1996 until 2002 in the Exceptional Children's Program. He is beginning his 4th full year as Principal of Liberty Middle School.

He currently resides in Burke County with his wife Alicia and two children, Blake and Mikayla.

Christie McMahon, Vice Principal

Mrs. McMahon has been with Burke County Public Schools for 13 years. During that time she has been a classroom teacher in third, fourth, and fifth grade and has also worked as an assistant principal at Forest Hill, Drexel and Salem. Mrs. McMahon received her Bachelor's Degree from Lees McRae College and her Master's in Educational Administration through Western Carolina University. She currently lives in Burke County with her husband, Tim, and three children, Austen, Alex and Kate.  She is excited to begin her new journey as a Liberty Knight and is looking forward to working with students, teachers and families.
